Thank you for your questions about Ohlone’s MySpace presence. If you have additional questions or concerns, please email Cheryl Lambert and Patrice Birkedahl. This clarification should answer some concerns and questions:
Ohlone College joined the MySpace network as a marketing tool to attract students. A majority of MySpace users are in the target market for Ohlone’s educational services.
Current and prospective students (and others) can link to Ohlone’s MySpace profile as a “Friend”. All requests to be a “Friend” of Ohlone College are sent to the Web Team for approval.
Just as Ohlone cannot moderate the content of any web page linking to our official website, we cannot moderate content on any of our MySpace “Friends” websites. We do, however, have the ability to remove a “Friend” as necessary.
Thank you for your interest!

Ohlone College has joined the friends and networking website MySpace.com. Students, alumni, staff, and other interested persons can now add “Ohlone College” to their MySpace account’s “Friends” list.
http://www.myspace.com/ohlonecollege (no ending slash)
Ohlone’s MySpace profile provides introductory information about Ohlone College and its programs. Many links to the official Ohlone College website at http://www.ohlone.edu are included in the profile.
Please note that MySpace is for people, not organizations. Selecting a gender and a birthdate is required. For gender, I chose Male. For birthdate, I chose June 18, 1967 (the date “Ohlone College” was given its name - at least according to information on the College website; if this is incorrect, please let me know). Section headings seem to be restricted to those provided in the MySpace template.
If you have questions about Ohlone’s MySpace profile, please let me know.

The music hasn’t been interrupted by a D.J. or commercial or advertisement. I’m still trying to figure out how they’re paying for the music and making money from the service…the online ads are basically ignored once you’ve selected the “channel” you want to listen to.

This is a follow-up note regarding the status of the Events Calendar and other Ohlone calendars.
The move of the calendar software to another Ohlone server was delayed. Until an Ohlone server is available, I have temporarily moved the calendar software to my personal web hosting account.
Links to the Events Calendar and other calendars from the Ohlone College website have been changed to go to their temporary locations off the ohlone.edu domain.
If there are questions about the Events Calendar or other calendars, please contact me. Thank you!

I’ve downloaded VTCalendar and run the VTCalendar installation script, but the database tables were not created. It looks like PEAR isn’t installed on the server. Until the PEAR is available, getting the Events Calendar and other calendars back running is on hold.
