For possible later use… Vanilla, an open source (free) message board software: http://getvanilla.com/
Vanilla is an open-source, standards-compliant, multi-lingual, fully extensible discussion forum for the web. Anyone who has web-space that meets the requirements can download and use Vanilla for free!
After discovering that the free version of Flickr limits users to a maximum of 3 sets, I’ve switched to Google’s Picasa Web Albums as a way to manage photo galleries related to Ohlone College programs and events:
http://picasaweb.google.com/ohlonewebteam/
Changed on July 25, 2007 to:
http://picasaweb.google.com/ohlonecollegephotos/
(Note that “ohlonecollege” was not available.)
Picasa Web Albums integrates with Picasa to post groupings of photographs on the web.
You too can manage and share your photos using Picasa, a free download from Google. Check it out!
If you have questions or comments about Ohlone’s photos or our presence on Picasa Web Albums, please let me know.
[Update June 25, 2009] Switched to Flickr Pro because Flickr offers the ability to put Sets of photos into Collections for better photo organization.
I’ll be testing an account at YouTube as a webspace for posting videos that can be linked to from Ohlone College websites.

[All registered members of the Ohlone College Forum were notified by email on April 3, 2007.]
I have decided to close the Ohlone College Forum (aka message board) which was setup in September 2006 on my person domain and web hosting account. It was created in the spirit of providing new ways of communication to the Ohlone College community, but it did not “catch on”.
In the future, I hope Ohlone will consider implementing a message board and/or other communication tools (such as blogs) on the ohlone.edu domain.
If you have questions about this, please contact me. Thank you.
Ohlone College recently joined the photo community Flickr.com as a way to manage photo galleries related to Ohlone College programs and events, such as our semester in Sydney, Australia study abroad program and our Biotechnology program:

An “Ohlone College” Flickr group has also been created for possible future use:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/ohlonecollege/
The Flickr profile for Ohlone College is:

If you have questions or comments about Ohlone’s photos or our presence on Flickr, please let me know.
[Update May 1, 2007] I’ve switched to Google’s Picasa Web Albums.
[Update June 25, 2009] I’ve switched back to Flickr using a Pro account. I needed to be able to put Sets into Collections and Picasa Web Albums doesn’t do that (yet).
This list may be added to as additional free wiki websites are discovered.
What is a wiki?
A wiki is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, typically without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative authoring.

Thank you for your questions about Ohlone’s MySpace presence. If you have additional questions or concerns, please email Cheryl Lambert and Patrice Birkedahl. This clarification should answer some concerns and questions:
Ohlone College joined the MySpace network as a marketing tool to attract students. A majority of MySpace users are in the target market for Ohlone’s educational services.
Current and prospective students (and others) can link to Ohlone’s MySpace profile as a “Friend”. All requests to be a “Friend” of Ohlone College are sent to the Web Team for approval.
Just as Ohlone cannot moderate the content of any web page linking to our official website, we cannot moderate content on any of our MySpace “Friends” websites. We do, however, have the ability to remove a “Friend” as necessary.
Thank you for your interest!
